Nutrition

  • M.J.Glade: Caffeine-Not just a stimulant. Nutrition, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2010, Pages 932-938. Neboli, jak jsem si to volně přeložila – několik důvodů, proč moci zajít do Starbucks s klidným svědomím: The consumption of moderate amounts of caffeine 1) increases energy availability, 2) increases daily energy expenditure, 3) decreases fatigue, 4) decreases the sense of effort associated with physical activity, 5) enhances physical performance, 6) enhances motor performance, 7) enhances cognitive performance, 8) increases alertness, wakefulness, and feelings of „energy,“ 9) decreases mental fatigue, 10) quickens reactions, 11) increases the accuracy of reactions, 12) increases the ability to concentrate and focus attention, 13) enhances short-term memory, 14) increases the ability to solve problems requiring reasoning, 15) increases the ability to make correct decisions, 16) enhances cognitive functioning capabilities and neuromuscular coordination, and 17) in otherwise healthy non-pregnant adults is safe.
  • Nadpisu článku od Lindy Van Horn jsem si nemohla nevšimnout: „What American Kids Are Eating: Obesity Starts Here“. Přijde mi, že článek s obdobným časopisem vychází v každém čísle :). Bohužel více k tomu na volně dostupných stránkách nebylo (Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Volume 110, Issue 10, October 2010, Page 1423).
  • Další omílané téma (ale tento článek měl chytlavý název) „Breakfast Because!“
  • (S.L.Krawczyk, Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Volume 42, Issue 4, July-August 2010, Page 290.e7).
  • Další článek mě zaujal i z toho pohledu, že na toto „téma“ teď čtu knížku: „Lifestyle in France and the United States: An American Perspective“ (L.H. Powell, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Volume 110, Issue 6, June 2010, Pages 845-847). Knížka „Francouzsky netloustnou“ od Mireille Guilianové zábavnou formou popisuje rozdíly mezi přístupem ke stravování, přípravě jídla a výběru surovin mezi Francouzi/kami a Američany/kami. Sama do svých 18 let vyrůstala ve Francii, poté se přestěhovala do Ameriky, tak opravdu má s čím srovnávat.
  • A na závěr: „« Calories » et obésité : quantité ou qualité?“
neboli „«Calories» and obesity: Quantity or quality?“ (Cahiers de Nutrition et de Diététique, Volume 45, Issue 4, September 2010, Pages 180-189) – závěr? – „Although genetics play a role, the increased obesity prevalence in the world population suggests the major contribution of the environmental factors in this public health problem.“ – že ačkoli genetika v obezitě hraje roli, každý jsme zodpovědní za způsob, jakým se stravujeme a co se svým životem provádíme.
